Three internationally active industrial companies worked on the construction of a new train. Each company contributed its own expertise – from infrastructure and technology to vehicle manufacturing.
Our team event during the conference was designed to highlight that the project can only be successfully implemented if all competencies are intelligently interlinked. At the same time, the goal was to promote mutual understanding and strengthen team cohesion.

Theory becomes tangible
Together
To make the complex dependencies of the project tangible, we developed a customized XXL Chain Reaction specifically tailored to this train project – not a game, but an experience with a clear message.
Participants were divided into teams of 10. Each team developed its own station of the chain reaction with the goal of passing a continuous impulse from the first to the last station.
Just like in the real project, every step built on the previous one, mistakes affected everyone, and final success could only be achieved together.
The project in miniature
The chain reaction reflected the real processes: From joint brainstorming for the project and shared approval to specific work steps, the entire chain reaction was tailored to the history of the train project.
The start symbolized the project approval: Three project managers simultaneously set a ball in motion, visualized by banners of the respective contracts.
To ensure maximum relevance to the real project, actual components, cable constructions, electrical impulses, and movement mechanisms were used at the individual stations, reflecting the cooperation between the industrial sectors involved. Original train parts slid down zip lines from scaffolding towers symbolizing the individual companies, triggering electrical impulses that were passed on to the next team.
After a total of 15 stations, the final impulse led to an emotional climax: A motorized cable reel pulled a giant train motif through the room, while confetti cannons celebrated the symbolic “rollout of the first train from the factory hall.”
Result & Impact
Amid applause, cheering, and palpable pride, the participants experienced how closely their work is interlinked with the performance of the other companies.
Making the common goal visible: Participants experienced firsthand that project success is only achieved through collaboration.
Deepening understanding: Many reported for the first time how much their own tasks influence and complement the work of others.
Strengthening team spirit: The shared experience created a tangible sense of community and motivated everyone to drive the project forward actively and cooperatively.
The enthusiasm reached all the way to the executive boards: The format was rated as so effective that it was implemented again a few years later for a comparable project by the same client.
