Chain reaction as a pilot project

Three companies wanted to jointly deliver a multi-year flagship project.

To make this work, they had to contribute their expertise as equal partners and collaborate closely to successfully implement a miniature version of their project.

Everyone involved should get to know each other, build trust, and appreciate one another’s expertise.

The idea

Participants work on a shared task with a clear link to the real project: a custom-designed chain reaction that playfully reflects the upcoming project.

Each group contributes its specific competencies and coordinates closely with the others so that the chain reaction runs smoothly and the pilot project succeeds.

The implementation

In mixed teams, a separate station is built for each company, where the “product” goes through its actual development steps in sequence.

Once triggered, the chain reaction moves through all stations—with deliberately planned transitions that only work through precise coordination and close collaboration.

The chain reaction ran smoothly—and immediately demonstrated how effective collaboration is created.

The teams complemented each other perfectly and developed a shared spirit. They then carried this into their day-to-day work and made the project a success.
